« TITLE TALK / Checkmate! Coconino County Branches Help Local Chess Team Through Old School Project

As part of their combined Old School project, the Coconino County branches decided to help fund the Killip Elementary School chess team’s trip to the United States Chess Federation Supernationals VI, taking place in Nashville, Tenn. from May 12 to 14. The Supernationals tournament is one of the largest chess tournaments in the country and occurs only once every four years for chess players in kindergarten through high school. To raise funds for the trip, the Coconino branches offered employees a full week of “dress down” days for a $25 contribution. Employees were also encouraged to wear buttons and keep a donation jar on their desk to spark a conversation about the fundraiser with Pioneer Title customers. Additionally, Killip Elementary School organized a Chick-fil-A fundraiser, which the four Flagstaff branches participated in. Of the meals our team ordered, 25 percent of their food costs were donated to funding the trip.
