Winslow Branch Member Spicing Things Up!

« TITLE TALK / Winslow Branch Member Spicing Things Up!

Lorraine Lucero-Gonzales, a branch manager/escrow officer for our Winslow branch, has decided to spice up her Old School project. She and a few of her family members have been creating homemade salsa to sell for the Soroptimist of Winslow for the past 20 years  and is now repurposing this endeavor to fit within the Old School program’s requirements. Lorraine and her family have made approximately 20 to 25 cases of salsa so far! With her profits, Lorraine is able to buy and donate books, crayons, coloring books, pencils, sharpeners and a number of other fun supplies. In addition to this, Lorraine has also been going to Jefferson School a couple of days each week to listen to first and second graders read. She, along with the other volunteers, help them tackle the words they are having trouble pronouncing and/or understanding. “By the end of the school year, it’s amazing to look back and see the incredible progress these children have made,” said Lorraine. Keep up the great work, all!
