Pioneer Title Agency Awards $4,000 in Scholarships to First-Ever Arizona Quizbowl Champions

The first-ever Quizbowl Arizona, a tournament-style educational contest featuring teams made up of students from local high schools across the state, launched in Arizona this past spring.

The single elimination tournament – set up much like the NCAA basketball tournament in brackets – was aired weekly as a half-hour local television series on Your Phoenix CW on Sunday nights at 7 p.m. weekly through May 31. KISS-FM’s Rich Berra of the Johnjay and Rich Show served as host of the series. Through the program, each week, students earned prizes through the competition.

Halfway into the competition, the Quizbowl Association (a nonprofit) lost funding for the grand prize – scholarships to send the winning Arizona team to represent our state in the national competition.

Pioneer Title Agency stepped up to provide full scholarship funding to send the winning team – which ended up being from Corona del Sol in Tempe – to the competition.

Members of the Pioneer team even appeared on Your CW to present the check during the grand finale celebration for the students. Click here to view the story.
